Thank you for visiting. Whether it is your first experience of therapy or something you have done before, finding someone you can relate to is a really important step but it can be difficult to know where to start.
I am a BPS & HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist working privately and in an NHS secondary care Mood, Anxiety and Personality disorders service. I offer therapy to adults, children and adolescents. It can take time to build up the trust you need to share some of your most difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences but with the right person you can make real changes to your life and happiness. Please take your time reading through the relevant pages to get a better idea of how therapy could work for you.
When you are ready to take the next step, please email me at: therapy@drdaniellesampaio.com
There is no pressure or obligation to start therapy, even after you’ve attended an initial assessment. I will always get back to you within 3 working days, so if it’s taking longer than that, feel free to send your message again just in case.
Where to begin? Some people start therapy with a good insight into what is bringing them here and what they want to work on. Many others however, are just not sure what’s going on. They know they need a space to think some things through, with someone who is outside of their everyday life and is not going to judge them or tell them what to do. My focus is on helping you gain knowledge and understanding about the things in your life causing you distress or holding you back, whilst developing better coping strategies to help you deal with new challenges and past experiences. This is underpinned by acceptance and respect for your well-being above all else.
I offer a range of services including:
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
- Existential Psychotherapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma focused therapy for both single and multiple event traumas
- EMDR
- Creative Play Therapy for children and young people
- Clinical Supervision

No matter what you are going through, I can tailor the therapy around your current situation and what you are hoping to work on. You don’t have to come to therapy with any of the answers, or even know what you want to change yet. Just by being open to the idea of trying, talking and exploring your life; together, is all you need to begin.
Not all of my areas of work are mentioned here, so if the issue you need help with isn’t listed, then please get in contact so we can talk through what you are looking for.
Thank you for you reading this far and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
